Job Description

We’re a precision metal fabrication and machining company specializing in laser cutting, machining, and rapid prototyping, headquartered in Emmaus, PA, with a subsidiary, DMI-Texas, LLC, in Brownsville, TX. Now in our seventh year, our team of 45+ across both locations is a premier vendor of tooling and components for advanced aerospace programs. If you’re driven by precision work that contributes to the future of flight and exploration, you’ll fit right in.

About the Role

We’re hiring Laser Operators for both 1st and 3rd shift. Our laser department is where every job starts, and precision here sets the tone for everything downstream. We need experienced operators who already know their way around a fiber laser and sheet metal — this isn’t an entry-level position. You’ll run our 20KW Eagle fiber laser, own the quality of every part you cut, and work with engineering and production to keep jobs on time and to spec.

What We’re Looking For

Required

· 2+ years of hands-on experience operating CNC fiber or CO2 laser cutting equipment in a production environment.

· Strong sheet metal fabrication background — material types, gauges, grain direction, and how different metals behave under the laser.

· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders.

· Proficiency with calipers, pin gauges, and height stands.

· Experience adjusting cutting condition tables (speed, power, gas pressure, focus) to hold tolerances and ensure edge quality.

· Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Fulcrum Pro, JobBOSS, or similar).

· High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred

· Experience on EAGLE fiber laser platforms.

· Familiarity with laser nesting software and the programming process.

· Experience completing First Article Inspections and working within a quality management system.

· Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.

· Current forklift and/or overhead crane certification.

· Experience in an aerospace, defense, or tight-tolerance job-shop environment.

What You’ll Do

· Run the laser. Operate our 20KW Eagle fiber laser end to end — set up jobs, load material, execute programs, and monitor runs. You own cut quality and cycle time for every sheet.

· Hold tolerances and own quality. Inspect parts against blueprints, adjust cutting conditions to maintain accuracy and edge quality, complete First Article Inspections, and flag deviations before parts move downstream.

· Troubleshoot and maintain equipment. Diagnose cutting issues (burr, dross, taper, missed cuts) in real time and perform scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.

· Manage workflow. Use Fulcrum Pro to track job status and due dates, coordinate priorities with production planning, and communicate proactively about schedule risks or machine issues.

· Collaborate with engineering. Identify process improvements — better nesting, optimized parameters, reduced scrap — and help translate design intent into efficient laser programs.

· Support the shop floor. Assist with de-nesting, deburring, minor secondary operations (tapping, countersinking), and other duties as needed. Keep your area clean and safe.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

· Ability to stand for extended periods and to bend, reach, push, pull, and carry throughout the shift.

· Ability to work in a loud, fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining a high level of safety.

· Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane.

What Success Looks Like

In your first 90 days

You’ll learn our Eagle laser, our materials, and our workflow in Fulcrum Pro. Because you’re coming in with experience, the learning curve is our specific machine and standards — not the fundamentals. Within a few weeks you’re running jobs independently and inspecting your own work. Success means parts come off the table to spec, on time, with no surprises downstream.

By six months

You own the laser. Cut quality is consistently dialed in, you’re managing your queue without being chased, maintenance is on schedule, and you’ve started finding ways to improve cycle times or reduce scrap. Quality issues at the laser are rare.

By the end of your first year

You’re the person the shop counts on. You’ve raised cut quality and efficiency, contributed process improvements the whole team benefits from, and become the go-to for tricky materials and tight-tolerance jobs. Our laser department runs better because you’re here.\nCompany Description
