Assistant Laboratory Manager - New Haven, CT Entry-Level Construction Materials Testing The Assistant Laboratory Manager supports the Lab Manager with daily lab operations, recordkeeping, and quality-system organization.
This is a good role for a recent graduate who is organized, detail-oriented, and interested in construction materials testing and quality control.
Responsibilities - Help organize samples, test paperwork, lab schedules, and storage areas.
- Maintain training, certification, competency, calibration, maintenance, and equipment trackers.
- File calibration certificates, test records, and quality documents.
- Check paperwork for missing dates, initials, sample IDs, or equipment IDs before filing.
- Help prepare for internal audits, NVLAP audits, and monthly quality meetings.
- Follow up on overdue records, training, equipment checks, and corrective-action items.
- Help keep current procedures, worksheets, and report templates organized and available.
- Support onboarding and training documentation for new technicians.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, engineering technology, materials science, or a related field preferred.
- Strong organization and attention to detail.
- Comfortable with Excel, Word, shared folders, and tracking spreadsheets.
- Willing to learn ASTM test methods, lab procedures, and quality systems.
- Prior lab or construction experience is helpful but not required.
