Junior Structural Engineer

Location: Alabaster, AL

Pay Range: $28 - $33/hr+ based on experience

Position Summary: Seeking a Junior Structural Engineer to support the design and analysis of electric utility substation structures and foundations. This role will work closely with senior engineers and project teams to develop safe, reliable, and cost-effective structural designs for transmission and distribution substations. The ideal candidate will have a Civil or Structural Engineering degree, FE certification, and experience with structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform structural analysis and design for utility substation structures and foundations.

Develop and analyze structural models using STAAD.Pro or similar software.

Prepare engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documents.

Review vendor drawings and equipment loads for incorporation into structural designs.

Ensure designs comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and client requirements.

Support project documentation, quality control, and engineering best practices.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.

FE Exam passed (EIT certification where applicable).

0-2 years of Structural Engineering experience.

Experience with STAAD.Pro or similar structural analysis software.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with steel structure and foundation design.

Familiarity with electric utility substations, transmission, or distribution projects.

Experience preparing engineering calculations and technical reports.

Knowledge of concrete, steel, and anchor system design.
