The Henry Ford Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine, is seeking a board eligible/certified Internist to join its faculty as a clinician-educator serving a diverse patient population in Jackson, MI. Physicians with experience or interest in ambulatory care, hospital medicine, teaching, research, and academic medicine are encouraged to apply.

Our mission is to advance the health and well-being of our community while educating future healthcare leaders through clinical care, medical education, research, and quality improvement initiatives. Care is delivered by a team of internal medicine resident physicians and supervising clinical faculty, supported by medical assistants, nurses, and case managers.

This position includes direct patient care and clinical teaching responsibilities in both outpatient and inpatient settings. The physician will serve as a preceptor for residents and medical students, primarily in the continuity clinic, with opportunities to precept on the inpatient service. Faculty may also participate in mentorship, quality improvement, and other academic initiatives aligned with the Division’s mission.

Position Responsibilities

Provide direct clinical care for adult patients in ambulatory and inpatient settings

Supervise and teach residents and medical students in clinical environments

Serve as a clinical preceptor, primarily in the continuity clinic with opportunities on the inpatient service

Participate in teaching, mentorship, and quality improvement initiatives

Collaborate with the interprofessional healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care

Comply with institutional policies including credentialing, documentation, and billing requirements

Qualifications

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine

Experience managing a broad range of conditions in the adult population

Interest in medical education and academic medicine

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Commitment to working in and fostering a diverse and inclusive academic environment
