About the Role

The Financial Controller owns Bearaby's accounting operations end to end: the close, the controls, and the accuracy of every number that rolls up to leadership. You sit between the strategic finance lead and the day-to-day accounting team, making sure the books are clean, GAAP-compliant, and delivered on time. This is a hands-on management role: you will both do the work and raise the standard of how it is done, working remotely in close collaboration with the rest of the team.

Responsibilities

Own and manage the full monthly, quarterly, and annual close (books closed by the 20th)

Produce GAAP-compliant financial statements with accurate revenue and expense matching

Oversee the general ledger, AP, AR, and inventory accounting and costing for e-commerce

Lead account reconciliations, audit preparation, and liaison with external auditors and tax advisors

Design, document, and enforce internal controls, accounting policies, and SOPs

Manage, review, and develop the accounting team's work

Deliver timely management reporting (MIS) and variance analysis to leadership

Own sales tax/VAT filings and any multi-entity consolidation

Maintain and continuously improve accounting systems (QuickBooks) and inventory tracking

What We're Looking For

7+ years of accounting experience, including 2+ years managing a close or a team

CA or CPA strongly preferred

Strong US GAAP expertise (mandatory)

E-commerce / DTC accounting experience including inventory costing and GL (mandatory)

Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and advanced Google Sheets/Excel

Hands-on audit, reconciliation, and financial reporting experience

MIS reporting experience

Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently across US time zones

Nice to Have

Experience implementing or improving accounting systems and controls

Multi-entity or multi-currency accounting experience
