Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join a growing commercial construction team in the Columbus, Ohio area. This individual will be responsible for preparing accurate project estimates, coordinating bid efforts, analyzing project documents, and collaborating with operations teams to support successful project execution.
Responsibilities
Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and hard bid estimates.
Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope.
Perform quantity takeoffs using digital estimating software.
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
Develop detailed bid packages and scopes of work.
Analyze value engineering opportunities while maintaining project quality and intent.
Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, architects, engineers, and owners during preconstruction.
Identify project risks, exclusions, and cost-saving opportunities.
Assist with budgeting and cost planning throughout the preconstruction process.
Participate in bid reviews, estimate presentations, and project turnover meetings.
Maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive pricing.
Stay informed of local market conditions, labor availability, and material cost trends.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
3–10+ years of estimating experience with a general contractor
Experience estimating one or more of the following project types: healthcare, higher education, K-12, correctional or public work.
Strong understanding of construction methods, building systems, and estimating principles.
Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience reading architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
Familiarity with the local Columbus subcontractor market.
