Research Assistant(s) / Junior Research Assistant(s)

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biological Sciences, or a related science discipline; (ii) a minimum of one to two years of relevant experience in clinical trial coordination and database management; (iii) proficiency in SPSS and other standard computer applications; (iv) venipuncture/phlebotomy certification with demonstrated expertise in blood collection; (v) a patient and approachable manner, with the ability to communicate comfortably with patients, and quick to learn with strong observation skills; and (vi) a detail minded approach in documentation, the ability to work collaboratively as a team player, and independently when needed, demonstrating both initiative and reliability. Prior experience in laboratory sample processing and handling is highly desirable. Proficiency in statistical analysis using SPSS is an advantage. Candidates with less experience may be considered for appointment as Junior Research Assistant(s).

The appointee will work on clinical research projects conducted at the Prince of Wales Hospital, with responsibilities spanning both patient-facing coordination and laboratory sample processing.

The appointee will be responsible for (a) coordinating and organising clinical research studies, including patient recruitment, scheduling of assessments, and progress monitoring; (b) communicating with study participants, conducting clinical assessments, and maintaining accurate and timely documentation of patient data; (c) managing research databases, assisting in preparing progress reports, and maintaining regulatory documentation to ensure trial compliance; and (d) providing support in the laboratory for the processing and handling of samples and biological specimens in accordance with established protocols, including storage when required.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
