Full-Time Middle School Teacher (Grades 7 8)

Middle School Teacher

Light of the World Academy (LOTWA) is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Middle School Teacher to lead a self-contained classroom for students in grades 7 and 8. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally while creating a positive and engaging classroom culture.

While an English Language Arts background is preferred, we welcome candidates from other educational backgrounds who possess strong instructional skills and a commitment to student success.

The ideal candidate will have excellent classroom management skills, experience working with middle school students, and a passion for fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and lifelong learning. Experience with Montessori education, project-based learning, or other student-centered instructional approaches is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Provide instruction in a self-contained 7th and 8th grade classroom.

Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with Michigan academic standards.

Foster a positive classroom environment that promotes student achievement and personal growth.

Utilize effective classroom management strategies to maintain a productive learning environment.

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.

Assess student progress and communicate effectively with families regarding academic performance.

Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to ensure student success.

Participate in school activities, meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Integrate project-based and experiential learning opportunities whenever possible.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's degree in education or related field

Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Elementary Education endorsement with eligibility to teach grades 7 and 8 in a self-contained classroom.

Strong classroom management skills.

Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building abilities.

Commitment to supporting the academic and social-emotional development of middle school students.

Preferred

Experience teaching middle school students.

Background or endorsement in English Language Arts.

Montessori experience or familiarity with Montessori philosophy.

Experience with project-based learning and student-centered instructional practices.

Demonstrated success creating engaging and rigorous learning environments.

Alternative Certification Candidates

Candidates who are actively enrolled in a teacher certification program and nearing completion of certification requirements may be considered.
