Position Overview: Dawson ISD is seeking a motivated and dedicated Teacher / Coach to join our team. This position includes classroom teaching responsibilities along with coaching assignments based on the successful candidate's experience and the needs of the athletic program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about student success both in the classroom and in athletics.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach assigned courses in alignment with TEKS and district expectations
Create an engaging and structured classroom environment that promotes student learning
Serve as a coach in assigned athletic programs
Assist with planning, organizing, and supervising practices, games, and athletic events
Promote teamwork, discipline, leadership, and sportsmanship among student-athletes
Collaborate with coaching staff, administration, and faculty to support student success
Maintain communication with students, parents, and staff
Uphold district policies, UIL regulations, and professional standards
Participate in professional development and campus initiatives

The Dawson Independent School District is a public school district based in Dawson, Texas. DISD serves southwestern Navarro County in Central Texas, including the unincorporated community of Purdon, Texas. An extremely small portion of the district extends into neighboring Hill County. The school mascot is Bulldogs. DISD has one school with three campuses - Dawson Elementary (grades pre-k through 6), Dawson Junior High School (grades 7-8), and Dawson Senior High School (grades 9-12). DISD is administered by a superintendent and administrative staff in the central administration offices, which is located in the Dawson Senior High School building. Policy decisions and administrative suggestions are made by the Board of Trustees, who are elected by the community and school district members.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (required)
Valid Texas teaching certification (required or ability to obtain)
Coaching experience (preferred)
Strong classroom management and leadership skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
CDL or willingness to obtain CDL for student transportation (required)
Commitment to academic and athletic excellence
Bachelor degree preferred.
