Telecom Engineer Position

Job Description:

Responsible for telephone and voice mail system software configuration, analysis, deployment, testing, troubleshooting, reporting, etc. Communicate with customer to define requirements for service requests and incidents. Serve as first point of resolution for voice service requests, and incidents. Provide voice system development, support, and training. Troubleshoot and resolve voice software service requests and incidents via remote access. Provide first level support to field telecom personnel.

Education:

College degree in IT related studies or 8 years of experience in telecommunications.

Required Skills:

· Experience with Mitel Unified communications system. Mitel Certification is a plus!

· Prefer experience or certification in Nortel Contact Center administration, Avaya CS1000 VoIP PBX

· Must have excellent customer service skills and be capable of providing customer consulting services with little or no supervision

· Usage of Remedy Work Management System is required

· Strong oral/written communication skills are a necessity

· Must be willing to work after hours on-call schedule

· Self-motivated, follow directions, and work well with others as part of a team

· Perform traffic, trend analysis, and other reporting on systems as required

· Technical voice system knowledge required to implement standards developed by voice engineering for user profile, class of service changes, trunking, routing, etc.

· Familiarity with voice software management and maintenance practices required

· Familiarity with IP telephony and/or basic data networking concepts required

Desired Skills:

· Knowledge of Mitel and call center systems preferred

· Ability to perform high level routine maintenance checks on voice systems

· Familiarity with the following OEM system vendors: Mitel, AT Avaya/Nortel; Comdial; CorTelco; NEC; Panasonic; ShoreTel; TIE; and Toshiba
