Job Description

Description:Join the Opening Team at Haven, a New Chef-Driven Restaurant in Blowing Rock, NC

HELP BUILD SOMETHING SPECIAL IN THE HIGH COUNTRYHaven is a chef-driven restaurant coming to Blowing Rock, North Carolina, and we're assembling our founding front-of-house team.

Built with its own distinct culinary identity and backed by the support and resources of Chetola Resort, Haven combines the excitement of a restaurant opening with the stability and opportunities of an established hospitality destination.

We believe exceptional hospitality begins with exceptional people. We're building a service team where professionalism, curiosity, warmth, accountability, and continuous learning come together to create remarkable experiences for our guests—and an outstanding place to build a career.

This is more than a typical restaurant supervisor position. It's an opportunity to join before opening day and help shape the service standards, leadership culture, operating systems, guest experience, and identity of Haven from the ground up. As a founding leadership team member, you'll play a critical role in bringing our vision to life, developing the team, and setting the standard for every leader and team member who follows.

At Haven, our menu is rooted in Appalachian cuisine and the incredible farms, foragers, and producers of the region. Through a small plates and tasting menu experience, we'll showcase hyper-seasonal ingredients while drawing inspiration from global culinary traditions and modern techniques. The result is thoughtful, ingredient-driven food that feels both familiar and unexpected.

As a Restaurant Supervisor, you'll help translate that culinary vision into an exceptional guest experience. You'll coach and support the service team, lead by example on the floor, ensure operational excellence, solve problems with composure, and create an environment where both guests and team members feel genuinely cared for. You'll work closely with the culinary and leadership teams to ensure every detail—from the first greeting to the final farewell—reflects the standards Haven is known for.

We're looking for leaders who believe exceptional hospitality is about more than overseeing service. It's about developing people, building trust, anticipating challenges before they arise, maintaining high standards while remaining approachable, and inspiring a team to deliver memorable experiences every single day.

You don't need to know everything on day one—but you do need strong leadership potential, humility, curiosity, professionalism, emotional intelligence, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for developing others. We'll help you develop the rest.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Lead each shift by setting the tone for hospitality, professionalism, teamwork, and operational excellence

Coach, mentor, and support front-of-house team members through real-time feedback and ongoing development

Deliver warm, genuine, and memorable guest experiences while ensuring every guest receives exceptional service from arrival through departure

Lead by example on the dining room floor, stepping into service whenever needed to support the team and guests

Oversee daily front-of-house operations, ensuring smooth communication between the dining room, bar, host stand, and culinary team

Maintain awareness of reservations, seating flow, pacing, wait times, staffing levels, and overall dining room performance

Resolve guest concerns with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment while turning service recovery opportunities into memorable experiences

Develop comprehensive knowledge of Haven's menu, ingredients, sourcing, preparation methods, beverage offerings, and service philosophy

Coach team members on menu knowledge, storytelling, hospitality standards, and guest engagement

Ensure service is executed with consistency, urgency, accuracy, attention to detail, and care

Monitor cleanliness, organization, appearance, and readiness throughout all front-of-house areas

Uphold and reinforce standards for food safety, sanitation, responsible alcohol service, and workplace safety

Assist with opening and closing procedures, daily checklists, inventory controls, cash handling, and operational reporting as assigned

Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, performance coaching, and ongoing development of team members

Provide thoughtful feedback as service systems, operating procedures, and hospitality standards are developed and refined throughout the opening processRequirements:

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a full-service restaurant environment preferred

Strong serving experience with demonstrated leadership potential will also be considered

A genuine passion for hospitality and developing others

The ability to lead by example while building trust, accountability, and teamwork

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills

Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment

The ability to remain calm, composed, and solutions-focused under pressure

Strong attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence

Curiosity about food, beverage, ingredients, seasonality, and culinary technique

The ability to learn, coach, and confidently communicate detailed menu and beverage knowledge

Sound decision-making skills and the confidence to solve problems independently when appropriate

A collaborative leadership style with deep respect for both front- and back-of-house teams

Reliability, accountability, professionalism, and a strong work ethic

Comfort giving and receiving constructive feedback with a commitment to continuous improvement

Experience in fine dining, tasting menu, farm-to-table, wine-focused, or other chef-driven restaurants is highly valued but not required. Most importantly, we're looking for leaders who genuinely care about people, develop strong teams, create exceptional guest experiences, and want to help build an outstanding restaurant culture from day one.

WHY JOIN THE FOUNDING LEADERSHIP TEAM

Joining Haven during the opening phase means you'll have the opportunity to build more than a restaurant—you'll help build the culture, systems, and leadership foundation that will shape Haven for years to come.

As a Founding Restaurant Supervisor, you'll have opportunities to:

Leadership growth and advancement opportunities as operations continue to grow

Comprehensive leadership, hospitality, menu, ingredient, and beverage education

Access to exceptional local farms, artisans, producers, and regional products

A professional restaurant environment centered on hospitality, excellence, teamwork, and continuous learning

Meaningful influence over the systems, standards, and culture we build together

Ongoing leadership coaching and professional development

Scheduling practices designed to support work-life balance whenever operationally possible

The opportunity to help launch one of the High Country's most exciting new restaurant concepts

THE KIND OF RESTAURANT WE'RE BUILDING

This isn't a high-volume, transactional restaurant where success is measured solely by table turns and sales. We're building a place where hospitality is intentional, leadership is visible, and every guest interaction matters.

As a Restaurant Supervisor, you'll help create an environment where our team feels supported, challenged, and empowered to do their best work. You'll play a key role in ensuring service feels polished without being formal, knowledgeable without being pretentious, and attentive without ever feeling scripted.

We're building a culture where leaders coach more than they command, where accountability and kindness go hand in hand, where feedback is timely and constructive, and where every team member contributes to creating remarkable guest experiences.

If you're passionate about hospitality, love developing people, thrive in fast-paced environments, and want the rare opportunity to help build a restaurant from its very first day, we'd love to meet you.
