Working Foreman

DPW – HIGHWAY DIVISION

AFSCME LOCAL 1700 – GRADE 10

FULL-TIME (40 HOURS PER WEEK)

PAY RANGE: $65,139.36 TO $87,560.72 PER YEAR

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform advanced levels of personal management, operate departmental equipment, verbal and written communication and hand laboring skills within the Highway Department.

Must be able to operate small equipment, such as, roadside mower, sidewalk plow, compressors, etc.

Must be able to operate equipment such as twelve (12) ton roller, grader, sweeper, front-end loader with two (2) yard bucket, and backhoe

Act as lead person on work crews.

Prepare routine records, logs and reports.

Provide verbal and written daily planning and scheduling of work crews and work assignments in coordination with the General Foreman or in his absence the Highway Superintendent

Respond to routine inquiries, requests and complaints from residents, contractors, etc.

Assist outside contractors engaged in construction and repair activities.

Assist other Town departments with repairs or other projects as required.

Operate and Coordinate snow emergency response.

Conduct and train others in the safe operation of power tools and heavy equipment.

Maintain work area in a clean, safe and operable condition and adhere to applicable safety and health rules and regulations.

All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Must be a positive, team player and work in a collaborative environment

Education & Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities will be considered. A typical candidate will have:

High school diploma or equivalent

Truck Driver CDL Class B license required

Must have Hoisting Engineer License class C

Must have working knowledge of constructions plans and profiles.

Must be willing to learn and advance to a higher grade
