Meter Data Integration Developer

Join our team to support the development of backend services that power our meter data integration platform. You'll work on connecting with external systems including supplier APIs and SFTP portals, learning modern backend practices while contributing to a critical part of our infrastructure. This role offers hands-on experience with API integrations and data exchange in a collaborative environment.

Location: anywhere within E&C legal entities, remote & hybrid options

Contract: 1 year (on payroll or freelance)

What about the role?

As a developer dedicated to Meter Data Integration, you will be trusted with:

API Integration Support: contributing to the development and maintenance of integrations with third-party supplier and grid operator APIs, focusing on authentication, data mapping, and error handling

SFTP Portal Integration: supporting the implementation of data exchange mechanisms with SFTP portals, including file transfer workflows and data validation

API Development Fundamentals: developing and maintaining backend APIs using Python (FastAPI), with guidance on design principles and best practices

Data Handling: working with SQLAlchemy to manage database operations and contribute to data structure implementation for our Snowflake data platform

Authentication & Security: gaining practical experience implementing OAuth 2.0 and other authentication mechanisms for secure API integration

Testing & Quality: writing unit and integration tests to verify the correctness and reliability of integration components

Collaboration: working closely with senior engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams, learning from code reviews and technical discussions

Deployment Support: assisting with CI/CD pipelines and Docker-based deployment processes under guidance

Job requirements

What will set you up for success?

We believe you'll thrive in this role if you bring:

Experience: 0-2 years of professional backend development experience, or strong coding fundamentals from bootcamps or academic background

Tech Stack Proficiency:

Solid understanding of Python and willingness to deepen knowledge of FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, and related tools

Familiarity with RESTful API concepts and basic API design

Comfortable working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL)

API & Integration Knowledge:

Strong knowledge of OAuth 2.0

Experience or enthusiasm for integrating with third-party APIs

Basic understanding of authentication mechanisms and data transformation concepts

SFTP & File Transfer: Experience with SFTP protocols or file-based data exchange workflows

Testing: Familiarity with testing concepts and frameworks for backend code

Problem Solving: Ability to debug issues with guidance and learn from technical challenges

Communication: Good teamwork skills and openness to feedback and mentoring

Cloud/DevOps Fundamentals: Basic familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure) and Docker containers

What else is good to have?

Experience or familiarity with meter data, utilities, or energy sector systems

Experience with data warehousing concepts or Snowflake

Contributions to open-source projects or a strong GitHub portfolio
