Maintenance Technician

A Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and troubleshooting of a facility's equipment, machinery, and physical structures. The role ensures operations run safely and efficiently by transitioning from reactive repairs to proactive preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

Perform routine inspections, clean and lubricate machinery, and change filters or lightbulbs to prevent equipment failure.

Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.

Handle general repairs including plumbing, carpentry, painting, drywall, and masonry.

Maintain accurate records of work orders, material consumption, and labor hours, often using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).

Adhere strictly to OSHA safety standards, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and manage hazardous waste disposal.

Essential Skills

A high school diploma or GED is typically required; technical certifications or an Associate's degree in Building Maintenance Technology are preferred.

Skilled in using hand and power tools, reading blueprints, and understanding complex schematics.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in cramped or adverse weather conditions.

Analytical thinking to identify root causes of failures rather than just symptoms.

Effective communication skills for reporting issues to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.

Strong time management skills to prioritize urgent repairs against scheduled maintenance tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Technical certifications in relevant areas.

Proficiency in using CMMS for documentation and tracking.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calvert, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
