About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our MEP team. You will design and coordinate HVAC systems across a wide variety of project types.
Responsibilities
Designing HVAC systems — including VAV, hydronic, packaged RTUs, geothermal, VRF, etc. — across a diverse portfolio of building types
Performing HVAC load calculations using HAP 6 and select equipment and size systems
Developing documents in Revit and AutoCAD suitable for bidding and construction
Editing mechanical specifications for each project
Reviewing shop drawings and submittals; responding to RFIs
Coordinating with other disciplines and accounting for existing conditions
Conducting site surveys and site observation — typically 2 to 4 times per month
Applying relevant codes and standards throughout the design process
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with Illinois licensure or the ability to obtain
5 to 7 years of experience in HVAC system design
Demonstrated proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for construction document production
Experience with HAP 6 or later, Trace 700, or equivalent load calculation software
Working knowledge of ASHRAE standards, IMC, and IECC as applied to building design
Experience with construction administration — shop drawing review, submittal review, and RFI response
Ability to manage project deliverables independently and coordinate across disciplines
A clear, collaborative communicator with experience working on multi-discipline design teams
Helpful but Not Required
Experience leading projects or mentoring junior staff
Commissioning experience or familiarity with Cx processes
LEED AP or equivalent sustainability credential
Experience with specialized building types — healthcare, laboratory, data center, or cleanroom
Familiarity with BIM coordination tools such as Navisworks
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $75,000–$95,000, commensurate with experience
Year-end bonus: Discretionary, reflecting company performance and individual factors including merit, seniority, and expertise
