This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at the California Science Center (CSC), a world-class science museum that develops and features award-winning exhibits and internationally renowned education programs. The Science Center's workforce includes executive, managerial, supervisory, and administrative classifications, however, rank and file facility maintenance and skilled trades represent approximately fifty-one percent (51%) of its civil service workforce. We're seeking a Building Maintenance Worker to join our team and support the Building and Maintenance Unit. Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Building Trades, the Building Maintenance Worker independently performs a wide variety of semiskilled manual tasks in the alteration, maintenance, and repair of buildings, related facilities, and equipment. Independently performs a wide variety of miscellaneous maintenance tasks or assignments as a helper to a skilled craftsperson in a trade's class. May be assigned work or supervised by various section leads.

This position is located in Los Angeles and is full-time (40 hours per week). The available work shifts may vary and may include any of the following schedules:

Sunday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Tuesday – Saturday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Ability to work weekends, holidays, and irregular shifts. See duty statement for more information. Specific shift assignments will be determined based on the California Science Center's operational needs at the time of hire.
