Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Correctional Plant Supervisor (CPS), the Chief Engineer I plans, assigns and supervises the work of Stationary Engineers, Water & Sewage Plant Supervisors and Maintenance Mechanics in the maintenance, construction, installation, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, water & sewage system, food service equipment, and mechanical electrical. Responsible for maintaining a safe and efficient Boiler Plant. This includes scheduling Stationary Engineers to provide coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to operate, maintain and repair the high pressure steam boilers and auxiliary equipment. In addition, the Chief Engineer I shall aid that an effective water treatment program is implemented and maintained, and that all operating permits are maintained in accordance with the California Code of Regulations, Division of Industrial Safety (Title 8), as well as local air quality regulations.
