Software Development Engineer Cloud Control Platform

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer to build and enhance a cloud-native control platform that provides unified resource management across private and public cloud environments. The platform enables engineering teams to provision, manage, and automate infrastructure through a centralized control plane while delivering a seamless developer experience.

This role involves designing scalable backend services, implementing cloud orchestration workflows, and contributing to the architecture of highly available distributed systems.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain backend services for a cloud control platform.

Build scalable, highly available, and resilient cloud-native applications.

Develop business logic for managing infrastructure resources across multiple cloud environments.

Implement workflow orchestration using cloud-native technologies.

Design and optimize distributed systems and data models.

Integrate with Kubernetes-based infrastructure and cloud automation frameworks.

Work with distributed and relational databases to ensure reliability and performance.

Build monitoring, logging, and observability solutions.

Collaborate with software engineers, product teams, and operations engineers throughout the software development lifecycle.

Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.

Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability and operational efficiency.

Evaluate emerging cloud-native technologies and contribute to platform improvements.

Required Qualifications

- 5+ years of professional software design and development experience, with strong emphasis on highly available and scalable system design (Ideally, 7+ years of experience)

- 3-5+ years of professional experience in the operation and support of existing web services

- Proficiency in at least one software programming language, with a strong preference for Go, Python, or Java

Preferred Qualifications

- 5+ years of experience across the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, and operations

- Demonstrable experience with cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes, Crossplane, Temporal. io, and Argo Workflows

- Experience with distributed databases like Apache Cassandra

- Familiarity with public cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) and their respective services

- Experience with observability tools (Grafana, Kibana, OpenTelemetry) and logging frameworks (Logstash, Filebeat)

- Understanding of service mesh (Envoy) and API gateway (Kong) concepts and implementations

- 3+ years of experience in UI application development is a plus

Salary: ¥8M – ¥11M JPY per year (Senior Level)

Location: Hybrid (4 days in the office, 1 day remote)

Office Location: Tokyo, Japan

Working Hours: Flexible schedule with core hours from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Japanese language proficiency certification (such as JLPT N2) is not required, as our client is a global organization with an international working environment.
