As Assistant Finance Manager, you will support the Finance Manager in overseeing daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance activities. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial records, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and maintaining strong internal controls.
This position is suited for a finance professional with solid accounting experience who is looking to take the next step in their career within a professional financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with German GAAP (HGB) and applicable regulations
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
Prepare financial analyses, variance reports, and management reports
Assist in cash flow monitoring and liquidity planning
Ensure compliance with internal policies, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards
Support coordination with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies
Contribute to the improvement and documentation of financial processes and internal controls
Assist with payroll coordination in collaboration with HR and external providers
Support ad hoc financial projects and reporting requests from management
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance
Solid knowledge of German accounting standards (HGB); IFRS knowledge is an advantage
Experience working in the financial services or insurance sector is preferred
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Strong communication skills in German and English (written and spoken)
Professional certification (e.g., Bilanzbuchhalter or progress toward a finance qualification) is an advantage
