Substitute Custodian

General Description: This position is responsible for the care and cleaning of school buildings and grounds to maintain safety and order.

Essential Responsibilities:

Dusts chairs, tables, shelves, and other furniture or equipment

Washes windows, walls, woodwork, and blinds

Performs vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and buffing duties

Collects and disposes refuse

Cleans and sanitizes rest rooms, replenishes restroom supplies, and ensures toilets and sinks are operable

Secures classroom doors and windows

Removes ice and snow from walkways, entrance ways, and steps

Makes minor repairs to buildings, furniture, and equipment

Cleans and deodorizes all types of flooring

Unload trucks and move materials, equipment, and furniture, as needed and directed

Assists in preparing multipurpose spaces ng

Shares in the responsibility for security of the building at all times

Maintains regulated materials as directed

Performs related duties as required or assigned Requirements:

Ability to read and write effectively.

Physically capable of performing manual labor.

Good verbal communications and human relation skills.

General knowledge of custodial skills. Physical Requirements:

This job requires strength, agility, dexterity, and visual acuity to perform all tasks

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must adhere to all site safety regulations

The employee may be required to regularly stand, sit, walk, bend, climb ladders, and/or kneel

There may be exposure to extreme heat and cold, outdoor and indoor environments, heavy equipment, moving machinery, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noises

This job requires lifting up to 50 lbs. and occasional lifting/moving up to 100 lbs. alone or with others

Verbal communication and hearing may be required for expressing or exchanging information

Use of computer or other device screens is necessary

This is a temporary/hourly position to be called upon as needed.
