Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring 2+ years of current ICU experience and OH or compact licensure.
Details
Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) with an oncology patient population
Adult patient population with diagnoses including hemorrhagic/hypovolemic shock, sepsis, septic shock, pneumonia, ARDS, craniotomy, ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, intracranial hypertension, and delirium
13-week assignment with night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30) or D/N rotating based on department needs
Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, though changes are not guaranteed
Epic EMR experience required
Performs specialized procedures including EVD management, ICP monitoring, Massive Transfusion Protocol, mechanical ventilation, heated high flow, BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy management, CRRT, and vasopressor titration
Requirements
Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
Minimum 2 years of current ICU experience required, consistently worked within the last 12 months and specific to the specialty applied for
Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central/PICC line care, and blood product administration
Skilled in ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and airway suctioning
Skilled in CRRT/CVVHD and acute/chronic renal failure management
Skilled in continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
Skilled in CVA/acute stroke management and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
Skilled in IV insulin protocols and management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; coworker references not accepted
Additional Information
Oncology experience preferred but not required
First-time travelers with 2+ years of ICU experience will be considered
Locals accepted at the same rate
Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
Current employees are ineligible for a travel assignment at this health system
RTO must be submitted with the initial application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract due to strict compliance timelines
