TurnAround Factor, a manufacturing & engineering firm in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking an Electronics Engineer to work on cutting-edge lithium battery, aerospace, and shipboard projects. This position will report directly to TAF’s Principal Investigator for these R&D efforts. This role will include:
Design & development of prototypes & products in a startup-like environment
Designing and manufacturing lithium battery packs, chargers, and safety equipment
Designing and manufacturing aerospace and shipboard parts
Metrology, materials analysis, and mechanical testing to verify fit and performance
Reverse engineering of legacy parts to develop modern replacements
Working hands-on & remotely with assembly technicians to build large-scale prototypes
Manufacturing operations analysis and design for manufacturing
This position is a mix of remote and on-site work in Richmond, Virginia with flexible hours. At least 30 hours per week must be during US-Eastern Time business hours (9-5ET). You must be able to work on site in the Richmond, Virginia area, as required. Days on site will vary based on project needs with more remote work possible during design phases followed by mostly on-site work during prototyping and integration phases. Hours on-site are flexible with 24 hour facility access.
Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Early career $60,000 to $90,000. Experienced level $90,000 to $120,000. Benefits include 4% 401(k) match, 11 Federal holidays, paid time off, and group health/vision/dental insurance offerings. This position is full time.
Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Prior experience with a 3D CAD package (e.g., Solidworks, OnShape, Inventor, etc.)
Prior experience designing and building at least one prototype or project involving mechanical and electrical components
Demonstrated experience working on integrated multi-disciplinary teams to design and build complex projects
Other Nice to Have Experience
Experience analyzing and developing customer/functional requirements and developing engineering requirements
Experience with manufacturing operations
Experience with design for manufacturing, plastics design, and composites design
Experience with Git version control & working with a development team
Experience with Python
Experience using Linux on the desktop including Ubuntu and Debian
ITAR Requirements
This position will require access to technical data that is export controlled.
