Position Summary
The Receiving / Shipping Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely receipt, handling, storage, and shipment of materials and finished goods. This role supports production, inventory accuracy, and customer satisfaction by ensuring materials are properly received, documented, staged, and shipped in accordance with company procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Receiving
• Receive incoming raw materials, components, and supplies.
• Verify shipments against purchase orders and packing slips for accuracy and damage.
• Enter receipts into the ERP/inventory system accurately and timely.
• Label, stage, and store materials in designated locations.
• Communicate discrepancies, damages, or shortages to Purchasing or Management.
• Coordinate material flow to support production schedules.
Shipping
• Prepare outgoing shipments of finished goods and materials.
• Pick, pack, and stage orders per shipping requirements.
• Generate packing lists, bills of lading, and shipping labels.
• Coordinate with carriers and schedule pickups.
• Ensure shipments meet customer, regulatory, and company requirements.
• Maintain accurate shipping records and documentation.
Inventory & Organization
• Maintain accurate inventory through proper transactions and material handling.
• Assist with cycle counts and physical inventories.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse areas.
• Follow FIFO and material traceability requirements as applicable.
Safety & Compliance
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment safely.
• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Support quality, ISO, or other regulatory requirements as applicable.
Part Marking
• Mark parts in accordance with customer blueprints. Part marking methods include, but are not limited to, laser mark, ink stamp, vibro-scribe, electro-chemical etch.
Required Training & Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience in receiving, shipping, or warehouse operations (manufacturing preferred).
• Basic computer skills and experience with ERP or inventory systems.
• Ability to read and interpret packing slips, bills of lading, and work instructions.
• Ability to lift up to [20 lbs] and stand/walk for extended periods.
Preferred Skills
• Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
