Our client is looking for a Network Engineer:

️ Location: Plainfield, IL 60544

Start Date: ASAP

Onsite: On-site (full-time)

️ Project Duration: 4-6 months

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and support enterprise wireless infrastructure including wireless LAN controllers (WLCs), access points, and related services.

Perform L2 troubleshooting of wireless connectivity, authentication, roaming, coverage, and performance issues.

Analyse wireless heatmaps and network performance metrics to identify coverage gaps and optimisation opportunities.

Support wireless deployments, upgrades, migrations, and device onboarding activities.

Manage incident, problem, and change tickets in accordance with ITIL processes.

Coordinate with OEM vendors (Cisco TAC, etc.) for complex issue resolution.

Support wireless security features such as Rogue AP Detection, WIPS/aWIPS, 802.1X authentication, and guest access solutions.

Participate in on-call support and major incident management activities as required.

Technical Skills Required

Wireless Technologies

Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (9800 Series, AireOS)

Cisco Access Points

Aruba Wireless (Preferred)

Wireless site surveys and heatmap analysis

RF fundamentals (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, 6 GHz)

Network Technologies

VLANs, STP, Routing and Switching

802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax standards

QoS for voice and video over Wi-Fi

Tools & Platforms

Cisco DNA Center (DNAC)

Ekahau

Security

802.1X Authentication

Cisco ISE

WPA2/WPA3

Rogue Detection and Wireless Security Monitoring

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field required.

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required.

Preferred Experience

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP Enterprise/Wireless).

Enterprise Wi-Fi operations supporting 500+ AP environments.

Cisco DNAC Assurance and Wireless Analytics.

Wireless migrations, refresh projects, and site surveys.

Experience working with global NOC/Operations teams.

Work Authorization: Candidates must have valid identification/authorization to work in the US.
