Superintendent

Job Description

Supervise daily construction activities and coordinate subcontractors, crews, and vendors.

Plan and manage the construction schedule, including sequencing work and resolving delays.

Coordinate subcontractors so trades can work efficiently without getting in each other’s way.

Inspect work for quality and make sure construction follows drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.

Enforce safety procedures and conduct or participate in safety meetings and inspections.

Read and interpret construction documents, including plans, specifications, RFIs, and shop drawings.

Coordinate inspections with architects, engineers, building officials, and other stakeholders.

Track materials and equipment, making sure the site has what it needs when it needs it.

Identify and resolve field problems, including conflicts between drawings, trades, materials, or existing conditions.

Document progress, including daily reports, photographs, manpower, deliveries, inspections, and issues.

Communicate with the project manager about schedule, manpower, quality, safety, costs, and potential problems.

Lead job-site meetings and communicate expectations to subcontractors and field personnel.

Ensure the project is completed and turned over properly, including punch-list work and final inspections.
