Position Overview
We are seeking highly skilled Avionics Technicians for a premier, long-term defense contract opportunity located in Huntsville, AL. In this heavy modification and MRO environment, you will be responsible for upgrading and integrating advanced avionics packages on DoD rotary-wing and fixed-wing platforms. This is a zero-defect, high-precision flight line environment geared toward technicians who do it right the first time.
Key Responsibilities
Perform depot-level avionics modifications, upgrades, and testing on military airframes.
Read, interpret, and seamlessly execute complex electrical schematics and engineering blueprints.
Route, clamp, and tie aircraft wire harnesses in strict accordance with aerospace standards.
Pin connectors, solder, and terminate wiring with absolute precision.
Troubleshoot and resolve faults in aircraft communication, navigation, and defense systems.
Required Qualifications
Strict minimum of 4 years of dedicated, hands-on aircraft avionics or electrical experience.
Extensive bench-level experience fabricating, installing, and repairing wire harnesses.
Must pass a comprehensive pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
Prior military aviation experience (e.g., 15N, AT, AE) with an Honorable Discharge is highly preferred.
Bonus: Direct heavy maintenance experience on CH-47, UH-60, or King Air platforms will qualify you for top-tier pay rates.
Compensation & Schedule
Pay Rate: $33.00 – $40.00 per hour (based on specific platform experience).
Per Diem: A lucrative tax-free per diem split ($12/hr taxable + $840/wk tax-free) is available for qualifying non-local traveling contractors.
Schedule: 4x10 Day Shift (6:00 AM – 4:30 PM). Choose between Sunday–Wednesday OR Wednesday–Saturday, giving you a three-day weekend every single week.
Employment Type: 6-month contract-to-hire with a strong pathway to permanent employment.
