Retail Expert

Specific Specialists is hiring Retail Experts.

This remote, project-based role is for U.S.-based retail professionals who can create and provide high-quality merchandising and store-operations data for AI training and research. Deliverables may include synthetic or properly authorized POS and sales exports, planograms, inventory and shrink reports, and category review decks.

Location: United States only

Engagement: Flexible contract projects

Compensation: $100/hour

Schedule: Flexible; varies by project

What you'll do

- Create realistic retail datasets, with an initial focus on POS and sales exports, planograms, inventory and shrink reports, and category review decks.

- Label stores, channels, products, categories, promotions, time periods, inventory states, merchandising decisions, metrics, and observed outcomes.

- Review artifacts for unit and date consistency, plausible sales and inventory relationships, clear category logic, and operational usefulness.

- Use synthetic or fully authorized materials and remove customer-level personal data, employee details, payment information, and confidential supplier terms.

Required qualifications

- Currently based in the United States.

- Legally authorized to work in the United States.

- Professional experience in merchandising, category management, store operations, e-commerce, inventory, loss prevention, retail analytics, or planning.

- Working knowledge of retail metrics, product hierarchies, promotions, inventory flows, and store or digital-channel operations.

- Strong quantitative reasoning, documentation skills, and attention to commercial confidentiality.

Preferred qualifications

- Experience preparing POS exports, planograms, inventory reports, shrink reports, category reviews, or assortment plans.

- Familiarity with retail planning, merchandising, POS, inventory, ERP, or business-intelligence systems.

- Background working across stores, e-commerce, omnichannel operations, consumer goods, or retail suppliers.
