Construction Project Scheduler - Columbus
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Scheduler to support the planning, development, and execution of construction projects from preconstruction through completion.
This individual will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Project Executives, subcontractors, and clients to develop and maintain accurate project schedules.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction sequencing, critical path scheduling, project controls, and field operations, with the ability to identify schedule risks and provide actionable solutions to keep projects on track.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and update detailed construction schedules from preconstruction through project closeout.
Create baseline schedules incorporating project scope, milestones, procurement activities, permitting, design, and construction activities.
Work with Project Managers and Superintendents to establish project sequencing, durations, and manpower requirements.
Perform regular schedule updates based on actual project progress and information provided by project teams.
Analyze the Critical Path Method (CPM) and identify activities that may impact project completion dates.
Identify schedule delays, constraints, and potential risks and recommend recovery strategies.
Develop look-ahead schedules, milestone schedules, recovery schedules, and what-if scenarios as required.
Track subcontractor progress and evaluate performance against established schedule commitments.
Incorporate procurement schedules and long-lead equipment/material delivery dates into the overall project schedule.
Review subcontractor schedules for accuracy, feasibility, and alignment with the master project schedule.
Participate in project kickoff meetings, schedule review meetings, owner meetings, and project progress meetings.
Prepare schedule reports, progress updates, dashboards, and other project controls documentation for internal leadership and clients.
Perform schedule variance analysis and communicate potential impacts to the project team.
Assist project teams with schedule-related documentation for change orders, delays, extensions, and claims when necessary.
Maintain historical scheduling information to assist with future project planning and estimating.
Collaborate with estimating and preconstruction teams to develop preliminary schedules for proposals and pursuits.
Support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accurate and timely schedule information.
Qualifications:
2+ years of construction scheduling, project controls, or construction management experience preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, logistics, and project delivery.
Experience developing and managing CPM construction schedules.
Proficiency with Primavera P6 strongly preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Project and other construction management software is beneficial.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documentation.
Strong understanding of project milestones, procurement, design coordination, and construction activities.
Ability to analyze complex schedules and identify potential conflicts or delays.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate schedule information effectively to project teams, field personnel, clients, and executive leadership.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules across multiple projects.
