Job Description: Packaging Machine Operator (AHP)
Company/Site: Columbus, OH 43217
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour ($18.00 base + $2.00 shift differential)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM
Job Duration: 4 months
Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Packaging Machine Operator to support packaging and production operations in a manufacturing environment. The position involves operating and monitoring packaging equipment, preparing materials, packing finished products, maintaining quality standards, and following all safety, cGMP, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Training
One-week training period on the first shift.
Training will be conducted primarily in a classroom setting.
Employees will receive training on packaging processes, equipment, safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Stage approved packaging materials and equipment for production runs.
Assist with operating packaging equipment and perform minor troubleshooting.
Escalate equipment or production issues to management or maintenance when required.
Repackage raw materials into finished products according to packaging specifications.
Fill cartons with finished products and verify labels and sterilization information.
Operate or assist with tape machines and palletize finished products.
Monitor packaging equipment and stop equipment when jams or other issues occur.
Assist with equipment cleaning and sanitation in the production area.
Maintain accurate production and compliance documentation.
Follow cGMP requirements, safety regulations, SOPs, and quality standards.
Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift.
Identify and report production or quality issues to the appropriate team members.
Work closely with Quality, Maintenance, and other supporting departments.
Meet or exceed production and quality goals as part of a team.
Participate in all required packaging, compliance, safety, and operations training.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Possible Work Assignments
Decommission Product
Scan barcodes to decommission products.
Remove caps from products.
Dump and dispose of product according to established procedures.
Pack Out
Fill cartons with finished products.
Verify sterile labels and sterilization information.
Operate tape machines.
Stack completed cartons on pallets.
Filler / Machine Operator
Monitor packaging machinery.
Remove empty items from the production line.
Stop equipment when jams or issues occur.
Perform basic troubleshooting and escalate issues when necessary.
Requirements
Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
Ability to read product labels, instructions, and production documentation.
Basic mathematical skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and use good judgment.
Ability to identify production and quality issues.
Ability to stand for extended periods, typically 8–12 hours.
Ability to lift, handle, and push materials averaging approximately 25 lbs., with some items weighing up to 35 lbs.
Good manual dexterity and hand coordination.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Previous assembly, manufacturing, production line, or packaging experience is preferred.
Work Environment
This is a manufacturing and production environment requiring strong attention to quality, safety, compliance, and teamwork. The employee will work under the direct supervision of the Shift Operations Manager and will be responsible for ensuring packaging activities are completed safely, accurately, and according to established regulatory and company requirements.\nCompany Description
