Lead one of Austin's premier emergency departments at St. David's Medical Center, a flagship tertiary care hospital located adjacent to The University of Texas at Austin. This is an exceptional leadership opportunity for an experienced emergency physician passionate about clinical excellence, physician engagement, and operational leadership. Summer 2027 marks the launch of the hospital's inaugural Emergency Medicine Residency Program, offering the facility medical director a unique opportunity to help shape the future of emergency medicine education while leading a high-performing clinical team.

St. David's Medical Center also expanded its emergency care footprint with the opening of an affiliated ED in Manor, Texas, creating additional opportunities for collaboration and system growth.

About the Facility

435-bed tertiary care hospital

35-bed emergency department with approximately 44,000 annual visits

High-acuity patient population

Strong specialty support across cardiac, stroke, trauma, and surgical services

Efficient workflows and collaborative physician leadership

Opportunity to work alongside and help develop the hospital's inaugural EM residency program

Leadership Opportunity

Provide overall strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for the ED

Partner with hospital administration and TeamHealth leadership to drive quality, patient experience, physician engagement, and departmental performance

Mentor and develop physicians, APCs, and future EM residents

Champion clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and evidence-based best practices

Position Details

W2 employed position

Base rate + RVU compensation model

Additional monthly administrative stipend + quarterly incentives

Enhanced sign-on bonus

Night differential available

Flexible 8- to 10-hour physician shifts

Paid professional liability insurance with tail coverage

Comprehensive benefits and health insurance

Candidate Requirements

ABEM board certified

Previous physician leadership experience preferred

Eligible for Texas medical licensure

Active clinical practice within the last 12 months

ACLS, PALS, and ATLS (expired ATLS accepted)
