JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and monitoring storage and distribution of goods. This position has responsibilities of supervising and coordinating the activities of employees working in shipping and receiving, material handling, and packaging.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Strategically plan and manage logistics, warehouse, transportation and customer services
Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle
Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, and customers
Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency
Arrange warehouse, catalog goods, plan routes and process shipments
Supervise, coach, train, and delegate warehouse workforce
Meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timeliness targets
Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
Coordinate and manage day to day activities of material handling department employees
Recognize, diagnose, and solve problems
Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments
Maintain various files and records – both computerized and hard copy files
Contribute to a positive atmosphere of cooperation, productivity, and loyalty to organization
Responds proactively to performance concerns, discipline, and employee complaints
Develops and maintains a clean and safe working environment for self and employees
Consistently maintains acceptable level of productivity in department
Delivers excellent customer service at all time with both external and internal customers
Coordinate with other departments
Follow safety rules and keep clean/orderly work area
Comply with laws, regulations and ISO requirements
Perform other duties as required or assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience
Record of successful distribution and logistics management
Previous experience as a manager, supervisor, coordinator, or relevant position
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain or equivalent
Licenses, Permits, and Certifications
Forklift certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of packing, shipping, and receiving methods
Experience in industry procedures, costs, and terms
Strong project management skills with the ability to supervise multiple projects
Ability to count various items with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to effectively use international shipping methods
Schedule all production distribution
Selection of carriers and third-party services
Ability to negotiate third party contracts and rates
Reviews and analyzes budgets, expenditures, and operations
Determines the needs for expansion of routes and schedules
Tracks and reports shipment results
Develops and manages logistics KPIs
Develops and documents standard operating procedures
Analyzes the financial impact of logistics changes, routings, shipping modes, etc.
Designs, assesses, and implements new strategies and initiatives
Ability to effectively resolve conflicts and maintain composure in stressful situations
Demonstrable ability to lead and manage staff
Ability to train, develop, and coach employees in and outside own department
Ability to measure employee performance and perform follow-up / feedback
Strong computer skills to effectively use SAP and Microsoft Office
Proficient use of standard logistic software
Good math skills (standard and metric)
Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools
Ability to follow work instructions accurately
Ability to do accurate work at a rapid pace
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (written and verbal)
Ability to work well independently as well as with others
Have attention to detail
Ability to multi-task
Ability to proficiently read and write in English
Ability to follow all safety rules
