Job Description
️ Mechanical Design Engineer (Advanced)
Design it. Build it. See it move.
Tired of designing parts that never leave your screen?
At PowerBuilt, you’ll create custom mechanical systems from concept through build—and actually watch them operate on the floor.
Why PowerBuilt?
We’re not your typical engineering environment:
Jeans every day – casual, laid-back office culture
️ Hands-on involvement – see and support your designs in the shop
️ Minimal travel (~<5%) – occasional installs/startups, mostly local
Company-paid travel – no out-of-pocket hassle
Stable & growing – we’ve never had layoffs and are approaching 100 employees
Major investments in our manufacturing facility
In-house fabrication shop – full turnkey solutions under one roof
Work on custom equipment – lift assists, conveyors, robotics integration, and more
Flexible schedule + ability to work from home as needed
What You’ll Do
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll take ownership of designs and support projects from concept through installation.
You’ll:
Design mechanical systems and components in SolidWorks (machined parts, weldments, sheet metal, assemblies)
Create detailed part and assembly drawings, layouts, and BOMs
Perform FEA analysis to validate designs
Research, specify, and source mechanical components
Develop pneumatic schematics and systems (AutoCAD/DraftSight)
Conduct field measurements and verify designs onsite as needed
Support equipment builds, testing, troubleshooting, and installation
Collaborate closely with controls and electrical engineers on automated systems
Lead or participate in design reviews with customers
Mentor junior engineers and support team development
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, PDM, and AutoCAD
Strong experience designing weldments, machined parts, and assemblies
Experience with FEA and design validation
Proficiency in pneumatic system design and troubleshooting
Ability to independently manage projects and make design decisions
Strong troubleshooting skills (mechanical and pneumatic systems)
Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams
Clear communicator with strong attention to detail
Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment
Location: Ohio- Bellefontaine or Dublin
Why This Role?
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants:
To own their designs and see them built—not just modeled
To work on custom, non-repetitive equipment and systems
To be part of a collaborative team that builds everything in-house
To grow into a technical leader and mentor others
To have real impact on projects, customers, and outcomes
At PowerBuilt, you don’t just design equipment—you help bring it to life.
PowerBuilt is an equal opportunity employer.
