Congregational Description

We are a small, close-knit congregation that feels like family. We are committed to growing deeper in our faith while also reaching our surrounding community with the love and truth of Jesus Christ. We are prayerfully seeking a pastor who will shepherd our church with spiritual maturity, biblical conviction, and a heart for people. We work closely with our children, and hope to inspire them to find their spiritual gifts and give them places to use them within the congregation. We believe that we are the body of Christ and by working together we can continue to share the Good News with the world.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position for a Senior Pastor at Drayton Valley Church of God, located in Drayton Valley, Alberta. The Senior Pastor will serve as the primary spiritual leader of the congregation, faithfully preaching and teaching the Word of God in alignment with the church’s faith statement. The Pastor will provide pastoral care, equip believers for ministry, and help lead the church toward spiritual and numerical growth through intentional discipleship and meaningful community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Preparing and delivering biblically grounded, Spirit-led sermons

Developing and leading Bible studies and discipleship initiatives

Providing pastoral care, visitation, prayer, and spiritual counsel

Reaching out to senior members and supporting vulnerable individuals

Mentoring and equipping church leaders and ministry volunteers

Overseeing and strengthening discipleship programs

Participating in local community events and outreach opportunities

Casting vision and offering strategic leadership for the church’s direction

Supporting and assisting the congregation and broader community as needs arise

The Senior Pastor will work collaboratively with church leadership and the congregation, fostering unity, spiritual maturity, and a welcoming church culture that reflects Christ to the community.

Demonstrates a strong and growing relationship with Jesus Christ

Affirms and aligns fully with our faith statement

Holds to Trinitarian theology

Upholds the authority of Scripture

Clearly articulates the Gospel message of salvation through Christ

Lives a life reflective of holiness and Kingdom living

Values unity in the body of Christ

Is hardworking, self-motivated, and dependable

Has strong leadership and interpersonal skills

Is passionate about sharing the Bible and discipling others

Desires to work collaboratively within a small church family

Formal theological training is preferred but not required if accompanied by demonstrated biblical knowledge and pastoral experience.
