Full Stack Software Developer

Position Overview

We are seeking a Full Stack Software Developer to support a mission-focused Data Analytics Team in Herndon, VA. This role will support application development for a variety of tools and initiatives focused on streamlining operations, automating processes, and aligning customer solutions with the broader digital architecture. The ideal candidate will help promote modern IT solutions, collaborate with mission partners to share technology and lessons learned, and ensure records management processes and requirements are included early in the design stages of IT solutions across the Intelligence Community. This individual will also work closely with customer technical interfaces to ensure future technology plans align with the customer's overall architecture.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and implement new applications based on project requirements.

Build and maintain web applications using the Java Spring framework.

Develop applications within Amazon Web Services cloud environments.

Support deployment and modernization of applications in AWS environments.

Perform extract, transform, and load processes on large raw data sets.

Develop web-based platforms that support search, analytics, and data discovery across large data sets.

Work in Linux environments, including Bash shell scripting.

Collaborate with IT mission partners to share technology, lessons learned, and best practices.

Ensure records management requirements are considered during early design stages of IT solutions.

Support solutions that align with customer digital architecture and long-term technology planning.

Partner with customer technical interfaces to ensure future technical plans align with the broader enterprise architecture.

Support automation, process improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives.

Participate in proof-of-concept development, technical evaluations, and implementation of emerging technologies as needed.

Required Qualifications

Building web applications using the Java Spring framework

Working in Linux environments, including Bash shell scripting

Developing applications in the Amazon Web Services cloud environment

Performing extract, transform, and load processes on large raw data sets

Developing web-based platforms for search or analytics on large data sets

Designing, developing, testing, and implementing new applications based on project requirements

Desired Qualifications

Deploying applications in the Amazon Web Services cloud environment

Solr or Elasticsearch

Python software development, especially web service development using Flask or Django

Building web applications using Angular 2+

Text analytics and its use in business intelligence or business analytics, including:

Search

Entity extraction

Sentiment analysis

Document summarization

Document categorization

Researching and implementing machine learning algorithms for production systems

Developing proofs of concept for new technologies

Evaluating state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms for text analytics

Machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Keras, or TensorFlow

Data visualization tools such as Tableau, Pandas, D3.js, ggplot, or similar tools

In-memory data stores such as ElastiCache or Redis

NoSQL data stores such as MongoDB or DynamoDB

Relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL

Natural Language Processing tools such as spaCy, NLTK, Stanford CoreNLP, or Gensim

Natural Language Processing concepts and applications

Optical character recognition or image detection

Developing solutions using open-source PDF libraries in Java, Python, or JavaScript
