Commissioning Manager - Power Generation Project

Location: Delta, Utah

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Travel: Up to 90-100% / Strong Onsite Presence Required

Position Overview

Project Resource Collective is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to support a major power generation infrastructure project in Delta, Utah.

The Commissioning Manager will lead commissioning activities from construction turnover through startup, testing, system acceptance, and final project turnover. This position will work closely with engineering, construction, project management, client representatives, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure systems are completed, tested, and commissioned safely and in accordance with project requirements.

This is a long-term project assignment with the opportunity to transition to future projects following completion.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage commissioning activities from planning through final turnover and acceptance.

Develop and execute commissioning plans, schedules, procedures, and turnover strategies.

Establish and coordinate division of responsibilities between project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Coordinate with engineering, construction, and project management teams to confirm system readiness.

Oversee pre-functional testing, functional performance testing, system energization, startup, and commissioning.

Review drawings, specifications, design documents, and technical requirements related to commissioning.

Interface directly with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders throughout the commissioning process.

Identify, document, track, and resolve commissioning issues, deficiencies, and punch-list items.

Maintain alignment between subcontractors and stakeholder teams regarding scope, schedule, testing requirements, and execution.

Manage commissioning documentation, test records, reports, turnover packages, and project closeout requirements.

Ensure commissioning activities comply with applicable safety, quality, contractual, and regulatory requirements.

Support training and turnover activities for operations and maintenance personnel.

Participate in project meetings and provide regular commissioning progress and status updates.

Perform additional project responsibilities as required. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.

5-10+ years of commissioning experience supporting large, complex construction or infrastructure projects.

Demonstrated experience leading or managing commissioning activities.

Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and/or control systems.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schematics, and technical documentation.

Experience coordinating commissioning activities across engineering, construction, subcontractor, vendor, and client teams.

Prior experience in a client-facing project environment.

Experience with large utility, substation, power generation, or major infrastructure projects strongly preferred.

Experience with HVDC converter stations is a plus.

Commissioning certifications such as AABC, ASHRAE, or equivalent are beneficial. Skills & Competencies

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project documentation systems. Travel & Project Requirements

Must be willing to maintain a strong onsite presence in Delta, Utah.

Travel requirement of approximately 90%, with project demands potentially requiring up to 100%.

Long-term project assignment.

Vehicle option available.

Relocation assistance available. Compensation

Base Salary: $160,000-$180,000 annually

Overtime: Straight-time overtime

Additional Compensation: Per diem and applicable travel/project allowances

Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the position.
