We’re a small, family-run cheese shop located in the heart of Santa Barbara, dedicated to offering a curated selection of high-quality, artisanally made cheeses and specialty foods. Store Hours:

We are open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday.

We are closed on Sundays, Mondays, and all major holidays—because rest and balance matter too.

Position Overview:

We’re looking for a friendly, enthusiastic Cheesemonger / Customer Service Associate to join our team 4–5 days a week. You’ll be the face of our shop, engaging with customers, building strong relationships, and helping them find products they’ll love. This is a hands-on, physically active role with opportunities to grow as you deepen your knowledge of cheese, food, and retail.

What You’ll Do:

Provide warm, knowledgeable and professional customer service and build lasting relationships

Learn and share information about our cheeses and artisanal products

Cut, wrap, and present cheese using proper tools and techniques

Use a meat slicer and knives safely and skillfully

Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing retail space

Operate the point-of-sale system, process payments, and handle cash

Assist with receiving, unpacking, and organizing deliveries

Lift and carry boxes (up to 40 lbs) and stand for extended periods

The schedule is generally flexible, however Saturdays are required.

Work efficiently with attention to detail and a sense of urgency

Collaborate with team members to maintain a smooth and positive work environment

What We’re Looking For:

A genuine passion for food, especially cheese and artisanal products

Excellent customer service and strong communication skills

Comfortable using knives and a meat slicer in a safe and professional manner

Detail-oriented and able to multitask effectively

Works well under pressure with a sense of urgency

Previous retail or food service experience is a huge plus

Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player

Eager to learn and grow within a small, dynamic business
