Senior Database AdministratorThe Senior Database Administrator (Sr.

DBA) is responsible for deploying, configuring, patching, and upgrading database servers and client installs, in a mixed technology environment to deliver data products providing business decision support focusing on Oracle and MS SQL server production support.Tasks and Responsibilities:Deploy, configure, patch, and upgrade database servers and client installs, with a focus on Oracle server production supportTroubleshoot and fix problems and provide root cause analysis in a timely mannerPerform preventive maintenance and system copiesAutomate system maintenance tasksDevelop, manage and test backup and recovery plansEnsure storage and archiving processes are functioning correctlyWrite database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and data dictionaryCarry out capacity planningManage security and disaster recovery aspects of a databaseEvaluate SQL Server performance and take appropriate steps for performance improvementProvide 24x7 on call support, after-hours and weekend work as neededRelational database design and developmentDesign OLTP and OLAP environments, and monitor, detect, and tune performanceProvide guidance and mentoring to other team members as neededAccountable and responsible for the accuracy and completeness of assigned work and resultsPrioritize and manage workload and communicate issues clearlyComplete other tasks as requiredTravel when requiredMinimum Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent industry experienceMinimum Experience: 5+ years of experience in relational database design, development, and implementation in an MS-SQL or Oracle environmentKnowledge, Skills, Abilities:Experience administering production level high performance, high transaction volume, and highly available OLTP databases (Oracle and SQL Server)Ability to create and maintain database documentation and diagramsKnowledge of database performance monitoring and tuning operationsKnowledge of database security protocolsKnowledge of current DBMS products, primarily Oracle 11g and 12c and SQL Server 2014+, as well as knowledge of related technologies, applications, and processesKnowledge of relational database internals, objects, and processes, as well as best practice principles regarding availability, performance, and securityExperience working with high availability tools, particularly DataGuard or AlwaysOnExperience Installing OEM and configuring to monitor Oracle instancesExperience writing shell scripts to automate Database activitiesDemonstrated skill using database backup and recovery models, utilities, and best practicesFamiliar with Agile development methodologyExcellent analytical skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsAbility to perform various tasks in a fast-paced, production critical support environmentStrong written and verbal communications skillsExcellent organizational skills, including the ability to multi task and prioritize workloadNice to Haves:Experience with Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle, CosmosDB, or AzureExperience with CIS and DOD Stig security standardsExperience with Azure Devops for managing workExperience in a culture that requires change approvalsPhysical Demands and Work Environment:The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met and or encountered by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
