We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative Science teacher to teach middle school during the 2026-2027 school year.
Summary description: To create a class environment conducive for learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continuing education in accordance with each student’s ability; to establish/foster healthy relationships with parents and other staff members.
Primary responsibilities: Curriculum/Planning * Annually prepare/update/submit curriculum map which includes all state standards and material covered on state assessments * Collaborate with other teachers in your content area to vertically align all curriculum maps to ensure all students success in your content area * Implement district curriculum provided by the curriculum teams Instruction/Lessons * Present lessons that are engaging, relevant, and align with submitted curriculum map * Modify/Adjust instruction based upon classroom assessment data to ensure mastery of concepts * Modify instructional practices/routines in accordance with students’ IEP, 504, ELL, or Gifted identifications Assessments/Classwork * Use both formal and informal assessments throughout each lesson * Assign classwork/homework regularly that reviews or prepares for lesson * Use a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussions, lecture, discovery and instructional aides to engage students in active learning Classroom Management * Create positive educational climate for students * Implement a positive behavior reward system * Follow all PPA policies to help ensure uniformity of the program Professional Development * Observe and collaborate with other teachers in the building multiple times throughout the year to for mutual growth/development in accordance with the peer observation program * Attend professional development opportunities throughout the school year or summer for your continuous improvement * Reflect and evaluate lessons/policies/practices often Additional Items * Build a relationship with students and parents so that they know you want only the best for the student * Maintain a strong collaborative relationship with teachers, instructional support staff, etc.
