Center for Family Guidance, PC is seeking a physician (psychiatrist, internal medicine, family medicine, emergency medicine, or other qualified physician) to provide overnight on-site restraint evaluation coverage for a large, well-established academic-affiliated behavioral health system in Central New Jersey.
This unique opportunity offers a flexible, low-frequency overnight coverage model that allows physicians to remain at home while on call and respond on-site only when necessary. Physicians are compensated $400 for each on-site required face-to-face restraint evaluation, creating an excellent supplemental income opportunity while supporting patient safety, regulatory compliance, and high-quality care within inpatient behavioral health and emergency department settings.
Ideal for physicians residing near the hospital campuses, this position is well-suited for retired or semi-retired physicians, academic physicians, hospital-based clinicians, and moonlighting providers seeking meaningful clinical work with minimal disruption to their existing schedules. Physicians will have the opportunity to work alongside a respected academic-affiliated health system while benefiting from strong clinical and administrative support through the Center for Family Guidance, PC.
Schedule & Coverage:
Overnight coverage
Flexible per diem scheduling
On-call from home with on-site response as needed
Coverage for behavioral health ED & inpatient units
Opportunities available throughout the week, including weekends
Responsibilities:
Provide timely in-person evaluations for patients placed in restraints or seclusion, in accordance with regulatory and hospital requirements
Complete required documentation related to restraint and seclusion evaluations
Collaborate with nursing staff and treatment teams regarding patient safety and clinical status
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, CMS regulations, and Joint Commission standards
Communicate clinical findings and recommendations to the treatment team as appropriate
Provide required in-person face-to-face evaluations within one hour of restraint or seclusion initiation. Additional face-to-face re-evaluations are required every four hours only if restraints remain in place.
Qualifications:
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Active New Jersey medical license
DEA registration (if applicable)
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or related specialty
Ability to respond on-site within required timeframes
Strong clinical judgment and professionalism
