Job Title
To assist the teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment by working with individual students and/or small groups in order that students may learn effectively.
Qualifications
1. Completion of an associate's degree, minimum of 48 semester hours of accredited coursework at an institution of higher learning, or acceptable minimum scores on the WorkKeys test
2. Results of a tuberculin skin test
3. Meet requirements of a background check
4. Effective written and oral communication skills
5. Effective human relation skills

Performance Responsibilities
Communicate effectively with school staff, students, and parents where appropriate
Provide instructional support to students
Assist teacher in maintaining the classroom environment
Maintain classroom audio video and computer equipment
Assist students in communicating needs to the teacher
Assist classroom teacher(s) in the maintenance of teaching aids and materials
Assist the substitute teacher with classroom procedures
Assume responsibility for student instructional support without constant supervision
Perform assigned tasks willingly and promptly
Maintain student work folders
Notify principal or designated person of impending absence
Participate in school, district, or state-level appropriate professional development activities
Support and participate in school-sponsored extra-curricular activities
Perform other duties as directed by supervisors
Terms of Employment
The terms and employment shall be in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy Manual Fair Dismissal Act of Alabama and the Board's Salary Schedule and/or contract agreement – Instructional Paraprofessional (Aide).
Evaluation
Performance evaluation shall be in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
