Software Engineer (Full Stack / Backend Focus) with Security Clearance

Location: Dulles, VA Employment Type: Full-Time Clearance Required: Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (FS Poly) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer with a strong focus on full stack and backend development to design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable applications supporting mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities * Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices.

* Build secure, high-performance RESTful APIs supporting enterprise applications.

* Develop and optimize server-side logic, data processing workflows, and application integrations.

* Collaborate with front-end developers to ensure seamless integration between backend services and user interfaces.

* Participate in software architecture and technical design discussions focused on scalability, maintainability, and performance.

* Write clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code following industry best practices.

* Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, performance issues, and production incidents.

* Implement secure coding practices, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.

* Utilize Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines to support automated software delivery.

* Support cloud-native application development within AWS environments.

* Participate in scheduled on-call rotations to support operational systems.

* Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.

* 7+ years of professional software development experience with expertise in full stack application development.

* Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as: * Node.js * Python * Java * Experience developing applications using frameworks such as Spring Boot.

* Demonstrated experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.

* Experience developing applications within Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments.

* Experience with Git version control and modern CI/CD pipelines.

* Strong understanding of secure software development principles, authentication, authorization, and application security.

* Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills.

* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within Agile development teams.

Preferred Qualifications * Experience developing front-end applications using Angular or Vue.js.

* Experience with Azure DevOps.

* Knowledge of SecDevOps methodologies and secure software delivery practices.

* Experience with automated testing and test automation frameworks.

* Experience designing scalable distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
