Job Summary
The State of Ohio is seeking an experienced Lead Salesforce Developer / Architect to provide technical leadership in designing, developing, integrating, and optimizing enterprise Salesforce solutions.
This role will work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, architects, and leadership to translate business requirements into scalable architectural solutions while ensuring the long-term stability, security, performance, and maintainability of the Salesforce ecosystem.
The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on Salesforce development experience combined with enterprise architecture expertise across Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Public Sector Solutions (PSS), LPI Data Model, Apex, LWC, OmniStudio, APIs, integrations, security, DevOps, and CI/CD.
Key Responsibilities
Salesforce Architecture & Design
Lead the end-to-end technical design and architecture of Salesforce solutions across:
Service Cloud
Experience Cloud
Public Sector Solutions (PSS)
LPI Data Model
Custom Salesforce applications
Develop and maintain Salesforce architectural standards, integration patterns, reusable frameworks, and development best practices.
Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical designs.
Ensure Salesforce solutions align with enterprise architecture and Salesforce platform capabilities.
Conduct technical impact assessments for new features, enhancements, integrations, and Salesforce platform updates.
Identify technical dependencies, risks, and interdependencies across systems.
Salesforce Development
Develop, customize, and enhance Salesforce applications using:
Apex Classes
Triggers
Lightning Web Components (LWC)
Flow
Visualforce
SOQL/SOSL
OmniStudio
Develop and maintain OmniStudio components including:
FlexCards
OmniScripts
DataRaptors
Integration Procedures
Provide technical guidance to Salesforce development teams.
Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to established coding, architecture, security, and development standards.
Troubleshoot complex Salesforce application and integration issues.
Integration & Data
Design and oversee integrations between Salesforce and external systems.
Work with APIs, middleware, and enterprise data pipelines.
Develop scalable integration patterns and ensure reliable data exchange.
Design and support complex Salesforce data models.
Ensure data integrity, consistency, and appropriate access controls.
Evaluate integration impacts and dependencies across enterprise systems.
Security & Governance
Ensure Salesforce solutions comply with enterprise security and governance standards.
Design and implement Salesforce security controls including:
Role Hierarchy
Sharing Rules
Profiles
Permission Sets
Data Access Controls
Support data governance and compliance requirements.
Identify and mitigate security and data integrity risks.
Ensure security considerations are incorporated into architecture and development decisions.
DevOps & Deployment
Support Salesforce deployment strategies and environment management.
Implement and maintain CI/CD processes.
Work with DevOps and development teams to improve release management.
Utilize version control and Salesforce deployment best practices.
Support deployments across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
Identify opportunities to improve automation, deployment reliability, and release efficiency.
Technical Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Serve as a Salesforce subject matter expert during:
Requirements workshops
Architecture discussions
Design reviews
Solution validation
Technical walkthroughs
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams.
Communicate complex technical concepts to business and technical stakeholders.
Influence architecture and design decisions based on scalability, security, performance, and maintainability.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Stay current with Salesforce releases, platform capabilities, architecture patterns, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Extensive experience designing and implementing large-scale Salesforce solutions.
Strong knowledge of Salesforce configuration, development, architecture, and customization.
Strong hands-on experience with:
Apex
Lightning Web Components (LWC)
Salesforce APIs
Integration frameworks
SOQL/SOSL
Salesforce Flow
Experience with complex Salesforce data modeling.
Strong understanding of Salesforce security architecture.
Experience with Salesforce performance optimization and scalability.
Strong experience integrating Salesforce with external systems.
Proficiency with DevOps tools, CI/CD, version control, and release management.
Strong understanding of enterprise architecture and Salesforce development lifecycle.
Excellent technical leadership and stakeholder management skills.
Required Certifications
Salesforce Platform Developer I (PDI) and Platform Developer II (PDII) certifications are required.
