Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Inpatient Medical Coders. This role is responsible for reviewing inpatient medical records and assigning accurate diagnosis and procedure codes while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines, regulatory requirements, and organizational quality standards.

We welcome candidates with experience in either facility inpatient coding or inpatient professional fee (ProFee) coding.

Specialty Physician Coding Candidates do not need experience in every specialty listed. Experience in either facility or professional inpatient coding is encouraged.

Responsibilities

Review inpatient documentation for coding accuracy and completeness.

Assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes as appropriate.

Ensure compliance with Official Coding Guidelines, CMS regulations, and payer requirements.

Meet productivity and quality expectations.

Participate in documentation clarification and provider query processes when needed.

Work collaboratively with CDI, Revenue Cycle, Compliance, and Clinical teams.

Utilize encoder software and electronic health record systems. Minimum Qualifications

2+ years of recent inpatient coding experience.

Current AHIMA or AAPC certification (CCS preferred; CPC, RHIT, RHIA, or CCS-P also considered based on experience).

Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding.

Experience with hospital EMR and encoder systems.

Excellent attention to detail and coding accuracy. Preferred Qualifications

Previous remote coding experience.

Experience with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or other hospital EMRs.

Hospital or large health system experience.

Knowledge of DRG reimbursement methodologies and CMS guidelines.
