Role: Scala Software Engineer

Location : Palo Alto, CA

Duration: Long-term

Overall Responsibilities:

Contribute to codebase of key components, protocols, and other interfaces for the underlying platform for Nest products and services.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

• Write code and test cases

• Review code

• Participate in team standups / group planning exercises

Required Skills:

• BS in Computer Science or related field

• 5+ years in platform / backend services development

• Solid understanding of Scala (preferred) or Java

• Proficiency in building and debugging distributed systems

• Comfortable working on Linux-based systems

• Demonstrated JVM, TDD experience

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience in Agile / Scrum development teams

• Familiarity with Scala or other functional languages

• Familiarity with Splunk
