Position Title: Substitute School Secretary

Location: Lorain City Schools / Lorain, OH

Employment Type: As Needed / Part-Time / On-Call

Pay Rate: $17.00/Hour

About the Role

Dedicated School Staffing is seeking reliable, organized, and customer-service–focused Substitute School Secretaries to support school office operations during staff absences. This position helps ensure the front office runs efficiently, providing support to students, families, and school personnel while maintaining a welcoming and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

Welcome and assist students, families, staff, and visitors in a professional manner

Manage incoming calls, route messages, and handle communications promptly

Support attendance tracking, student sign-ins/outs, and daily office workflows

Perform clerical tasks such as filing, copying, data entry, and document organization

Assist with scheduling, communication distribution, and administrative coordination

Safeguard confidential student and staff information at all times

Follow district policies, safety procedures, and office protocols

Provide assistance during emergencies, drills, or unexpected events

Work closely with building administrators and office staff to support daily operations

Required Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age

Clean criminal background check required

Completion of Ohio ID account setup and enrollment in the Ohio Rapback program

Strong communication and customer service abilities

Basic computer skills (email, word processing, office systems)

Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced office setting

Professionalism, dependability, and strong attention to detail

Ability to handle confidential information appropriately

Completion of required district training

Compliance with the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Previous experience in office administration, customer service, or school environments

Familiarity with student information systems or office software tools

Ability to stay composed and flexible in high-traffic or fast-changing situations
