Position Title: Substitute Intervention Specialist Assistant

Location: South Euclid-Lyndhurst Schools / Lyndhurst, OH

Employment Type: As Needed / Part-Time / On-Call

Pay Rate: $14.00/Hour

About the Role

Dedicated School Staffing is seeking dependable and compassionate Substitute Intervention Specialist Assistants to support students and teachers when regular staff are absent. This role is essential in maintaining a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment. Substitute aides assist with classroom activities, provide individualized student support, and help ensure continuity of services across general education and special education settings.

Key Responsibilities

Support classroom teachers by assisting with instruction, activities, and supervision

Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students, including those with special needs

Implement accommodations and modifications as directed by the teacher or intervention specialist

Assist students with daily tasks such as organization, transitions, and engagement in lessons

Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, or during arrival/dismissal

Help maintain a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment

Follow established lesson plans, behavior plans, and safety protocols

Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and administrators

Document student observations or incidents as required

Required Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age or older

High school diploma or equivalent

Valid educational aide permit or higher teaching license (as required by state regulations)

Clean criminal background checks

Ability to work with children in a patient, supportive, and professional manner

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to follow directions and adapt to different classrooms and student needs

Physical ability to assist students as needed (e.g., mobility support, classroom tasks)

Adherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with children, especially in educational or childcare settings

Prior experience supporting students with disabilities

Training in behavior management or de-escalation strategies
