Level 1: $94K – $154K
Level 2: $104K – $172K

We are seeking a Nuclear Facilities Engineer to support mission-critical nuclear operations. This role serves as a technical expert for facility electrical, mechanical, and structural systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance in a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide engineering support for nuclear facility infrastructure and systems
Perform engineering studies (short circuit, arc flash, fault current, equipment sizing)
Support HVAC, power, utilities, fluid systems, and critical power reliability
Support facility modifications, renovations, and new construction
Apply codes and standards including IBC, IEBC, ASHRAE, and ASME B31
Collaborate across engineering disciplines and operations teams
Level 2 Additional Duties:
Lead integrated design solutions and mentor junior engineers
Prepare and review technical reports and design documentation
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (ABET-accredited)
Level 1: 2+ years of relevant experience
Level 2: 3+ years of relevant experience
Experience with regulated facility systems (HVAC, utilities, power)
Ability to perform engineering calculations and analyses
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Experience
DOE or nuclear facility experience
Chilled water or nuclear air handling systems
Mechanical system modeling software
ASME NQA-1 quality programs
Work Environment
Onsite role in Los Alamos, NM
May require shift, weekend, or 24/7 coverage
Industrial environment with noise and radiation exposure
