Backend Developer (Java) Large-Scale E-Commerce Platform

We are seeking an experienced Backend Developer to join the engineering team of a leading global e-commerce platform. The company operates one of the largest online marketplaces in Asia, serving millions of users and merchants while continuously expanding its services and technology landscape.

As part of a highly skilled development team, you will contribute to building scalable, high-performance systems that support large-scale online commerce operations.

Responsibilities

Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

Design and develop backend services and APIs for large-scale web applications.

Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and cross-functional teams.

Monitor system performance and stability, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements.

Contribute to system architecture design, optimization, refactoring, and troubleshooting.

Maintain and enhance highly available and scalable systems.

Required Qualifications

- Development and Operation experience of web system

- Development experience of Java with frameworks (Spring Framework, Play Framework) for more than 5 years

- Experience of Unit test with Junit

- Experience of front end technologies (HTML, CSS, Javascript)

- Experience of design and development with design pattern

- Development experience with RESTful API and GraphQL

- Experience of RDMS for more than 3 years

- Experience of version control tools like Git or SVN

- Knowledge of Web securities

- +1 year experience of web servers (Apache, nginx etc.)

- +1 year experience of Unix/Linux

- Documentation skills, including design documents and test cases

- Communication skill in English

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of Container architecture (Docker, Kubernetes)

- Development experience with Caching/NoSQL technologies (Redis, kafka, MQ, memcache)

- Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps (Jenkins, CircleCI)

- Experience of stress test or performance test

- Knowledge of system scalability and sustainability

- Experience of system operations

Salary: ¥6.5M – ¥11M JPY per year

Location: Hybrid (4 days in the office, 1 day remote)
