Core Responsibilities
Expert Diagnosis: Performing advanced troubleshooting and failure analysis on engine, hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems.
Complex Repairs: Handling major overhauls and rebuilds, including Tier 4 emissions systems and complex electrical circuits.
Technical Support: Acting as a subject matter expert, often working directly with Caterpillar factory engineers or Technical Communicators to resolve unusual equipment problems.
Mentorship: Training and guiding Apprentice and Journeyman-level technicians through difficult repairs and inspections.
Documentation: Creating detailed service reports and formalizing work orders using proprietary software like STW (Service Technician Workbench).
Required Qualifications
Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 5 -8 years of heavy equipment repair experience, often with at least 2 years in a lead or master role.
Education: High school diploma required; an associate degree in diesel technology or trade school certificate is highly preferred.
Software Proficiency: Mastery of diagnostic tools such as Cat Electronic Technician (ET) and SIS (Service Information System).
Physical Stamina: Ability to lift 75 to 100 lbs and endure prolonged kneeling, stooping, and squatting. Must be ok working in a high heat location
