Lotus Technical has a 6-month contract to permanent role for a Mechanical Assembler on the first shift for our client, a manufacturing company located in Big Lake, MN. Must be US Citizen or Green Card Holder. Must be local to the MN area. Sorry, no relocations.
SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Machine Assembler II to join our manufacturing team. This role will involve the building and testing of packaging machinery and systems. This position involves assembling mechanical and electrical components per machine specifications, work instructions, and customer requirements. It also includes testing and calibrating packaging machinery to meet product and customer specifications. The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined, self-motivated, hands-on, and will work with hand power tools to assemble products. Must be able to follow instructions and shadow trainers to learn the assembly process. Typically reports to a production lead or supervisor but can work without direct supervision.
DUTIES
Assembles machines, equipment, and their sub-assemblies according to customer’s needs, following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications.
Plans assembly procedures, following specifications and using knowledge gained by experience.
Use of hand files or portable grinders, to clean parts or to produce close fit between parts.
Drills, taps or reams holes, using portable drill. Aligns components, and bolts or screws using hand tools or portable powered tools.
Installs moving parts, for example shafts, levers, or bearings, and works them to test free movement.
May also align and mesh gears and belts for free flowing systems.
May also test or assist in testing operation of completed product.
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Works under immediate supervision.
Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Minimum of 1-3 years of previous experience. Experience building automated equipment is highly desired.
Positive attitude and professional demeanor.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Forklift experience preferred.
Excellent hand-to-eye coordination.
Basic knowledge of hand and power tool usage.
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently following general procedures.
Ability to handle multiple tasks.
Ability to operate general office equipment such as telephone, copier, fax, computer, etc.
Required to exert physical effort in handling objects more than 40 pounds.
Must Be US Citizen or Green Card Holder.
